Hallmark Celebrates Mother's Day Review & Giveaway

Mother's Day is just a short time away (May 13, 2012). Have you thought about what to get your mother? Or what your children will get their mother or grandmothers? Hallmark has long been the place I have trusted to find a perfect gift and card for the special person in my life and they won't let us down this Mother's Day either.

Of course, you are sure to find that perfect Mother’s Day Greetings card!  This year Hallmark is taking Mother’s Day cards to a new level with a variety of innovations, including light and animation, as well as pop-ups with mechanics so complex that a card designer works with a Hallmark paper engineer (yes, there is such a thing) to design and construct it. You are bound to find a card with the perfect design and sentiment for Mom and Grandma figures in your life!

I was given a copy of the Mom & Me: Conversations to Keep and the Hallmark Recordable Artwork, along with some cards for this review. I have given and received Hallmark's recordables in the past and they are always a cherished gift! I handed these two over to my husband so he can have my 5 year old son create and record them (it just didn't seem right to do my own Mother's Day gift) and I am super excited to see how they turn out! I know I will get quite a kick out of some of the answers and they will be something I will cherish always. 

As for cards, Hallmark doesn't disappoint in quality or variety. My son is intrigued with the lights, sounds and motion, so I am sure anything he picks out will be graced with that. My husband tends to pick sentimental cards, while I tend to pick humorous and we have always been able to find that perfect card from each of us. We found the perfect cards for our Mom's, Grandma's and the special person who has been like a Grandma to my son!

Star Wars Fighter Pods

Star Wars never ceases being popular, and surprisingly with all ages! My 5 year old is completely intrigued with Star Wars and all the characters even though he has yet to see any of the films. Hasbro has him beyond excited with their new Star Wars Fighter Pods!

Here is the description of the Star Wars Fighter Pods and how you play the game, taken from the press release I received:

Micro heroes, mega battles! Iconic STAR WARS characters get a collectible new gaming twist, as players user Fighter Pods to knock down as many figures as possible. Spin, Launch or Roll you Pod into battle...even connect you Pods together or place your figures on top or inside of them for extra "power"! I was given a Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 1 mystery pack, which includes 2 figurines (one of which is an "exclusive") and a pod, to check out for this review. I knew from the moment I saw the package that these would be a hit with my 5 year old and I was not wrong! He thought these were some of the coolest things ever! Our pack included a Sandtrooper and a Clone Trooper (our exclusive) and of coarse the pod. My son immediately began looking through the checklist (which is included in the pack, but also printable on the Hasbro Star Wars Fighter Pods website), choosing which characters and vehicles that he wanted to collect (which was ALL of them)!  I think they are pretty cute and I know how much my child loves everything Star Wars, so for us, they will make excellent rewards for him to work towards! 

Star Wars Fighter Pods are not for children under the age of 3 because their size make them a significant choking hazard. 

Star Wars Fighter Pods are sure to be a "hit" with Star Wars Fans young and older--collect them or take them to battle against your friend's army. You can find them in stores nationwide and are available as a mystery pack (like I received) and in sets of 4, 8, 12 and 16 figures.

Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates Review & Giveaway

I love chocolate, it is one of my downfalls in life, however not all chocolate is created equal. I was recently introduced to a chocolate, Guylian Chocolates, that is absolutely luxurious and delicious! With a history that dates back to the late 1950s in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and the original signature truffle recipe is still made in small-batch copper kettles today!

Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates Truffles are made from 100% pure cocoa butter to create silky smooth milk, dark and white Belgian Chocolate which is marbled together and filled with a rich, decadent creamy chocolate and hazelnut praline truffle and shaped into beautiful seashells. Guylian Chocolates pair perfectly with gourmet tea or coffee, a nice wine or handcrafted beer or cheese. They are a perfect addition for a romantic evening or fine dinner or evening with friends or simply a delicious indulgence to wind down in the evening. 

Beyond their signature hazelnut filled praline seashells, Guylian also offer other chocolate indulgences including: Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles and No-Sugar Added Chocolate Bars, available in Milk or Dark Chocolate.

Chocolate and Hazelnut are two of my favorite flavors so I think the Guylian Artisanal Chocolate Truffles are absolutely divine! They have a silky smooth texture and they just melt in you mouth. They are delicious with a cup of coffee or with a glass of red wine, in my opinion! The No Sugar Added bars are great as well--I prefer the dark but that is just me in general.  I do recommend taking your time and really savoring the flavor of these delicious little indulgences!

I can honestly say, if you enjoy chocolate or have someone in you life who enjoys chocolate, Guylian Chocolate is a wonderful indulgence. I know I would appreciate getting them as a gift (Hint: Mother's Day is right around the corner!)!  Check out where you can find Guylian chocolate in your area!
