If you are looking for a fun movie that the whole family will enjoy, I would encourage you to check out Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days which is the third movie based on the very popular series of books.  The movie came out on Blu-ray and DVD earlier this month.

My daughter has not read the books yet but she loves this movie.  She and my husband saw this movie when it was in theaters earlier this year and they really enjoyed it and came home quoting lines from the movie and laughing about several different scenes.  They were both really excited when it was released on Blu-ray and DVD and I finally got to see the scenes they had already told me so much about.  The three of us sat down last night and had a movie night and watched this movie.  I am happy to say that my daughter and husband were right, this movie is a good, fun family movie.

Below is a deleted scene from the movie:

In this movie, Greg has just finished 7th grade and because of his constant screw-ups, he is afraid his parents may send him to a very strict prep school.   The movie centers around the Wimpy Kid, Greg Heffley and his quest to have an awesome summer which for means video games and trying to get passed just being "friends" with a girl in his class, Holly.

Here are the features included in both the DVD and Blu-ray

DVD Exclusive Special Features:
        Commentary by Director David Bowers
Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary by Director David Bowers
        Class Clown Animated Short
        Gag Reel
        Theatrical Trailer

Blu-ray Exclusive Special Features:

Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary by Director David Bowers
        Class Clown Animated Short
        Gag Reel
FX Movie Channel presents Wimpy Empire

The movie runs about 94 minutes and is rated PG.   The DVD has a retail value of $29.98, but I found it on Amazon for $19.32. The Blu-ray retails for $39.99 but Amazon has it for $24.99.

Thanks to 20th Century Fox for my sample for review. Opinions are honest.
