It is devastating to discover that our friend or loved one has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, or any other form of cancer or devastating illness for that matter. We want to be supportive and lend a helping had anyway we can, but just how can we help? Sonja L. Faulkner, Ph.D., Breast Cancer Survivor with her Ph.D. in Psychology has put together a book called, The Best Friend's Guide to Breast Cancer: What To Do If Your Bosom Buddy or Loved One is Diagnosed (2011) to help us, help our friends and loved ones as they fight this horrible disease.

The Best Friend's Guide to Breast Cancer: What To Do If Your Bosom Buddy or Loved One is Diagnosed is easy to read guidebook to help you, as the support system, understand your friend's diagnosis and gain some insight into what your friend might be thinking or feeling at any given place in the breast cancer journey. It offers some great insight on how to best support and communicate with your friend--many of the tips were suggestions from other breast cancer survivors on things that they most appreciated. It also goes into cancer-fighting superfoods and even provides you with some great recipes that you can easily make for you friend as she is going through treatment (or before or after too)!  She has also given lots of information on various organizations where you can find more information and support for you and your friend.

With the sheer number of people, primarily women but men as well, that are inflicted with Breast Cancer, I think The Best Friend's Guide to Breast Cancer would be a great read for anyone. Unfortunately, the odds are that at some point in our lives, either ourselves or someone close to us will discover they have breast cancer and this book will give you some of the information you need to know to be the best support system you can possibly be for your friend or loved one.  Knowing how to support someone without them having to ask can really make a difference in their spirit during this trying time!
