Power Play Review & Giveaway

 New York Times bestselling military/conspiracy theory thrill writer, Patrick Robinson, is back with the 4th book in his Navy SEAL Mack Bedford series, POWER PLAY: An International Thriller (Vanguard Press, November 2012), a thrilling novel that brings the troubles of the Cold War to an whole new level (those problems x10 or so) in the future. It is the year 2018--in a highly volatile nuclear world. Israel has obliterated the deep underground nuclear weapons facility built by Iran. The United States has destroyed the nuclear facility of a defiant North Korea.  

Against this background, the Russians have upped the stakes in the latest world power-play--cyber warfare--to reduce the United States to helplessness: a three-strike missile attack on the National Security Agency at Fort Mead, Maryland, while simultaneously jamming the top-secret electronic access key to America's nuclear launch system--the nuclear football. If successful, Russia would blow the United States off the nuclear map.

And with the entire country's fate in his hands, Mack and his hard-trained, one of a kind SEAL Team 10 must not, cannot fail. 

POWER PLAY is definitely one for the conspiracy theorists!  The possibility of some similar occurrence becoming a reality makes this book that much more thrilling and kept me reading well into the night. As a member of a military family, I must admit, this book freaked me out a bit--in a good way!  This is a must read book for anyone who enjoys global strategy and warfare, as well as political thrillers and action suspense novels.
