Big Bang Boom Because I Said So... Review & Giveaway

Three devoted, yet Rockin', dads make up fan favorite power pop kid's band, Big Bang Boom, who is releasing their third studio album, Because I Said So! on September 18, 2012. The three draw on the musical influences of their childhood (70's & 80's) to create an album that draws both children, as well as parents in. It's not your ordinary kids' music--this album has substance, great lessons and even a bit of attitude!
Here is a brief synopsis of the Because I Said So! and the songs that make up this album (description taken from the press release I received):

Big Bang Boom shines when it comes to fresh ideas for creatively putting a song together. Witness the terrific energy and intense, driving rhythms of "Green Light," a song that's a revved-up version of the backyard game Red Light/Green Light.  When that rocking' bass comes to a sudden STOP! --  punctuated by drummer Eddie Walker -- there's no doubt in anyone's mind regarding what it's about.  Guitarist Steve Willard picks out a neat sounding, "stick in your ear" introduction to "Bicycle" that perfectly paints a happy musical portrait of one of the benchmark moments in a kid's life.  There's a heartfelt tribute to a special kind of mom in "Hippie Mom" and a "just for fun" song, "I Can Sing," which encourages kids to create their own music but wisely includes a confidential rap detailing a variety of topics not meant for public warbling.  More good advice for kids comes through loud and clear in "One" (about making a difference in the world), "Are We There Yet?" (demonstrating by example what it's like for parents to be on the receiving end of groaning, whining, and moaning from the back seat), and the album's title track, which ends with a child coming to the conclusion that there's not always an explanation for "Why?").

The Because I Said So! was my introduction to Big Bang Boom, and I am very glad that I was introduced to them. Even though the album are geared towards children--the sounds, rhythms, musical style and even the lyrics reach out to parents as well (some of the lyrics are directed more towards the parents--like the comment about the Beastie Boys in the song "I Can Sing", which most children wouldn't know who they are, but the parents would. I am playing this album, as I write this review and I glanced up to see my 5 year old jamming along to it and my husband working on his computer with his foot tapping to the beat. It really just draws you into the music. My family really enjoys Big Bang Boom's Because I Said So! album and I bet your family would enjoy it as well!
