If you are a fan of IMAX films like I am, I wanted to let you know that a new one opened at the St. Louis Science Center last week called To The Arctic. I have seen a number of these over the years and I have never been disappointed. The team that made this movie have made a few other of my favorite IMAX movies including The Living Sea, Everest and Grand Canyon Adventure.
My family and I were invited to see To The Arctic. Visually this movie is incredible. It really makes you feel as if you are there experiencing what the polar bears, seals and other creatures go through. The shots of the glaciers are really amazing. This film also vividly details the struggles they have to deal with because of global warming. I think you will be amazed as I was with some of the shots they were able to capture. The filmmakers also got some big names to help them with this project-Meryl Streep is the narrator and Paul McCartney added some music.
I would caution you that there are some scenes and situations in it that may be too stressful for little ones. My daughter is 4 and I was a bit concerned about 2 different parts of this movie but they did not really seem to faze her, it just had me wondering.
The running time of To The Arctic is 40 minutes long. For more information visit the To The Arctic website.
