O'Reilly Media is a trusted publisher of cutting edge technological literature! They recently released the second edition of Arduino Cookbook (O'Reilly Media, Dec 2011) by Michael Margolis, which walks you though how to create devices that interact with the world around it!

Here is the synopsis of Arduino Cookbook, 2nd Edition from the back cover of the book:

Want to create devices that interact with the physical world?  This cookbook is perfect for anyone who wants to experiment with the popular Arduino microcontroller and programming environment.  You'll find more than 200 tips and techniques for building a variety of objects and prototypes such as toys, detectors, robots and interactive clothing that can sense and respond to touch, sound, position, heat, and light.

You don't need experience with Arduino or programming to get started. Updated for the Arduino 1.0 release, the recipes in this second edition include practical examples and guidance to help you begin, expand, and enhance your projects right away--whether you are an artist, designer hobbyist, student, or engineer.

*Get up to speed quickly on the Arduino board and essential software concepts
*Learn basic techniques for reading digital and analog signals*Use Arduino with a variety of popular input devices and sensors*Drive visual displays, generate sound, and control several types of motors
*Interact with devices that use remote controls, including TVs and appliances*Learn techniques for handling time delays and time measurement*Apply advanced coding and memory handling techniques

My son has a very technological creative and scientific way of thinking. He has to figure out how things work and he loves to build things "better." I recently discovered Arduino, but I honestly, haven't done anything with it, other than discover it's availability and be impressed with what some people are able to do with such technology, but I can see this being something my son will find very fascinating, so I checked out the Arduino Cookbook to learn more.  As I read through, Arduino Cookbook, 2nd Edition, I found that I could actually understand and would be able to carry out creating something. My husband who is MUCH more computer and technology savvy than I am, thought it was a great book for even those who are more advanced and comfortable in technology.

Arduino Cookbook, 2nd Edition is an excellent reference book for anyone using Arduino in any way, shape or form, regardless of your experience level!
