I was given the opportunity to put together an 11x8.5" Classic Landscape Hardcover 20 page book. Everything was pretty simple and self explanatory. I decided to put together a project that I had never been able to find the perfect theme to fit prior to this, an international adoption tale. After looking at their many, many theme options I went with "Blank Canvas". Then I moved on to upload the pictures I wanted in the book, I did it in stages, I felt less overwhelmed that way (I was narrowing down a few thousand pictures into a book with a few dozen). I worked my way through the book by date. 

I liked that I could choose a template, I would choose one that fit the number of pictures and any journaling that I wanted, but I liked that I could make adjustments to where I felt I needed--several times I would adjust the picture size or drag it slightly to another spot. I also added journaling to an area where there wasn't originally any. I liked that I could go through and choose the background paper that I wanted (including to the cover), and that I had the option of adding "sticker" & such if I would have wanted to add something more. Once I was completed, I had the option to order it, which I did. It was delivered a few days later. It was just as I expected it to be. It is well put together and will most likely hold up for many years! 

I was very impressed with how personalize-able Mixbook's photo albums were. I would recommend going on and playing a bit because the longer I worked with it the more I learned what all I could do with it. I am very happy with how my Mixbook turned out and my child loves having his very own storybook about him.

I was given a copy of Start Day Trading Now to review. I found it to be well written, very comprehensive and insightful!  I am one of those, who never really considered Day Trading because I thought it was simply too much work and risk involved--I have always gone a more "safe" route of investing, not that this option is wrong--just possibly not as fruitful! I like that this book is honest--it tells you how to start day trading but encourages you to continue educating yourself on the subject. It also points out the potential pitfalls and makes you well aware if the risks that are involved and reminds you that it does require work--it is not a 'get rich quick' scheme. After reading Michael Sincere's book, I found myself more interested in day trading that I thought I would be, however since I am married and our finances affect all of us, I passed the book onto my husband for him to read before we make any decisions!

In my opinion, Start Day Trading Now by Micheal Sincere is a great book to get you started in the world of day trading. It will walk you through step by step getting started! Check it out! You can find for sale on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Kim Cormack Reminds Us How Fun It Is Being Four

 

Kim Cormack reminds of how different and wonderful life is for a 4 year old, in the beautiful children's picture book she wrote about her son called, Being Four (Strategic Book Group. LLC, 2011).  My son has just turned 4, and I have to admit that after reading this book to him, I longed to think and feel that way again--everything was so simple and a little kiss from mommy makes everything all better and you didn't have to hide your true emotions. 

Being Four takes you back to when every day was a big adventure and the world was your playground. Take a step back from the craziness of adulthood and share the experience of "Being Four" with you children! For my child and I, I found that Being Four brought the bonding moment beyond the book and into life!

I was given a pdf file of the book to check out but I am planning on getting the physical book for my son's Easter Basket! I loved the book--it is so true and the pictures correlated perfectly to the wording!

I was given a copy of World Without Fish by Mark Kurlansky to read and review. This book is well written and in a manner that holds ones attention. I found it quite interesting and really makes you think. I like that the book helps you determine how to make a difference in the fish population and he doesn't tell you not to eat fish he just suggests you make wise choices in which fish you eat--healthiest caught by sustainable means. I come from a family of fishermen (fresh water, not ocean fish)--they rarely ever bought their fish--just paid for their fishing license and ate what they caught, so the existence of pollution and the future of safe fish is of vital importance to our family and the health of our world population.  

I believe that this book would be a great classroom addition. I am actually passing it onto my nieces (ages 9 &11) who have a huge interest in science in general and I am sure they will find this book very interesting. You can check out 10 Fascination Fish Facts from World Without Fish here!

My 4 year old son loved it from the moment he got the hands on the package--he was trying to use the magnifier before I even took it out of the package!  He gets quite a kick out of making things look bigger and everything gets picked up with the tweezers that can be (I did however ban them from the dinner table)! My son struggles with his fine motor skills and I have had a difficult time trying to keep him motivated to work on them, so I LOVE this set--especially the tweezers for that reason--I like that they really promote the proper pincher grip that is needed to learn how to write properly and it's all fun so he doesn't realize he is working on his grip! The set seems well built and durable. Our set will be getting plenty of use!

Movie Night For Mom & Dad Black Swan

 

Fox Searchlight recently released its award-winning, psycho-thriller  Black Swan on Blu-Ray & DVD. Black Swan was directed by Darren Aronofsky and stars Natalie Portman as a up and coming ballerina who is given a role of a lifetime that stretches her physically and emotionally to the breaking point. The cast also includes Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Winona Ryder and Barbara Hershey. 

Here is the synopsis of Black Swan from the DVD cover:

Nina (Portman) is a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her obsessive former ballerina mother Erica (Hershey) who exerts a suffocating control over her. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well.

Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side-a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.

I was given a screening copy to view for this review. Black Swan is a very intense movie and I found it very entertaining and intriguing. I found myself feeling several different emotions as I watched it. I found the description of Black Swan as a "psychological thriller" to be very accurate. I think Natalie Portman & Mila Kunis played their roles well. Black Swan is rate R for good reason, but I found it to be a great adult mystery-suspense drama!

BornFree also carries a line of safe pacifiers and teethers. They also carry a breast pump adapter so that a standard pump set up will convert to the wider BornFree bottles as well as collars and disks for sealing the bottles without the nipple for storage and transportation.

I was given a BornFree Twist'nPop Easy Drink Straw Cup. My 4 year old thinks he is too cool drinking out of his own "water bottle" instead of a standard sippy cup or open cup--I think it makes him feel like a big boy! The cup itself is 14oz--which I think is a great size for water for him. As a mom, I like the safety factor of the cup. I like that you can completely take it apart to easily clean ever aspect of the cup. 

I really like this system as a whole. I like how everything is interchangeable from the bottle stage to the cup stage. I appreciate that their system supports breastfeeding.  This would be a great system to have on hand for foster or adoptive parents, especially those who have to travel to meet their child and don't know exactly what their child needs--you could easily take a couple of bases and then the various parts to make both bottles & cups--that way you have a variety of options without it taking up tons of space.
