My child loves his Nintendo DS. Thankfully, there are many games out there that are educational that I feel comfortable letting my child play. The Magic School Bus Oceans for Nintendo DS by Scholastic Games (distributed by Cokem International) is a great one for young children like mine. Just released this fall, it comes at perfect timing for adding to a stocking or as a gift to a preschooler or elementary school child.
In The Magic School Bus Oceans for Nintendo DS, kids journey with Ms. Frizzle and the Magic School Bus gang as they travel under the sea to discover interesting findings. Players jump into the driver's seat to unlock 6 levels of ocean, transforming into a new marine vehicle with each level. It includes 7 games and almost 200 interactions as they explore ocean areas and sea life. As each level is unlocked, you return to the bus to play additional games and learn more than 100 facts and discover more than 100 sea animals. Throughout the game you apply the knowledge gained by answer Ms. Frizzle's questions! It is rated E for everyone--their only warning is comic mischief, which is in true Magic School Bus fashion!
My child loves watching The Magic School Bus show on TV and we frequently read The Magic School Bus books to him as well. I like that they are educational and entertaining at the same time, so I was excited to see The Magic School Bus Oceans available for Nintendo DS (and at a decent price for a DS game). My 4 year old has been have a lot of fun playing it and I would definitely recommend The Magic School Bus Oceans to others who are looking for a fun educational Nintendo DS game for their preschooler.
