Big City Otto: Elephants Never Forget 1 (Kids Can Press, 2011) is a funny, adventure graphic novel by Bill Slavin about the adventures of a sweet-natured elephant named Otto with his companion, Crackers (a wise-cracking parrot) as they journey to find a lost friend.

Here is the synopsis of Big City Otto from the back cover:
From the deep forests of Africa to the mean streets of the concrete jungle...
It is said that elephants never forget, and Otto is no exception. He just can't stop thinking about his long lost friend Georgie, a chimp snatched from the jungle byt the mysterious Man with the Wooden Nose. So with the help of his parrot pal, Crackers, Otto sets off for America in search of his childhood chum. But from the moment this unlikely pair tumbles out of the baggage claim at a big city airport, trouble seems to be all these two manage to find...
Join Otto and Crackers on an unforgettable journey across America in this first hilarious adventure in the Elephants Never Forget series!

Even though Big City Otto is designed for kids ages 8-11, my 4 year old son loved this book and my husband and I got a kick out of it as well. My child has only just discovered comic books and such and he is fascinated by them, and so the minute he saw thing book, he wanted us to read it to him. The story itself is funny and the graphics portray the story perfectly. I think this would be perfect for the graphic novel lover on your Christmas list. I know it has already been read a few time in this house and we are looking forward to the next book in the series!
