DEDEMED's Mediterranean Cooking Review

If you are looking for authentic Mediterranean recipes and spices, DeDeMed Mediterranean Cooking is the site to check out, including a recipe for Traditional Falafel along with her Falafel Seasoning blend--they also carry the Falafel press so you can get perfectly formed patties.

I have to admit, I love Mediterranean cuisine but really haven't had it much--it simply isn't very available in my area and I have never tried to make it before, but I was up for the challenge. I was given a bottle of DeDeMed's Falafel Seasoning blend and a Falafel mold and asked to make DeDe's Falafel Recipe (I love that she has videos of her making this and various other recipes so you. Let's just say--it didn't go so well, but it was no fault of the recipe. First I had a hard time finding the Fava beans--I finally gave up searching for them and used straight garbanzo beans, but my major problem was that I only have a hand food processor, so I believe that the main problem was that I didn't get the garbanzo beans to the consistency that they needed to be for the patties to stay together when fried. So they fell apart when we cooked them--so I ended up with Falafel crumbles (I did take a picture, but since it didn't turn out like it was supposed to, I am too embarrassed to post it). Now let me tell you--those Falafel crumbles were, as my 4 year old would say, "Yummy, Deee-licious!" so we simply assembled our fixings (lettuce, tomato and tahini sauce) like a taco and had a falafel taco and we all enjoyed our meal!

Will I attempt to make the Falafel using DeDeMed's Falafel Seasoning Blend, definitely yes (but I told my husband that I am getting a real food processor before I do--it has been on my wish list for a long time anyway, now I have a precise reason for wanting one). The seasoning smells and tastes wonderful--I noticed on the bottle that it states that is "100% pure spice trade quality" and I can believe that. I also liked how the Falafel mold helped to form even patties--not that they stayed together for me but I believe they will when I try together in the future. I also liked that I could easily drop the patties down into the oil--I felt a little more coordinated with that than I was with 2 spoons.

DeDeMed has all the authentic Mediterranean recipes and spices you need to put together a the perfect Mediterranean meal, from appetizer to dessert and everything in between!
