McNaughton Inc is celebrating their 26th year in business this year. Over their years they have created many inventive, environmentally-friendly products. One of those products that they created is a bird feeder and watering well kits that re-use empty plastic soda bottles. They took this creation and designed their Bird Feeder for Kids program. This program is designed for schools, churches and scout troops to promote the care and feeding of wild birds as well as teaching the importance of recycling in a fun fashion. Each child is encouraged to make (and decorate if they wish) their own bird feeder.

Each Bird Feeding kit (8 different kits are available) includes everything they need to turn an empty soda bottle into a bird feeder or watering well, the starter kit creates one of each, all that is missing is the empty soda bottle (16-20 oz plastic Pepsi bottles work best), the birdseed or nectar (depending on the kit) or water. Assembly is super easy--just fill a clean, empty soda bottle with the food or water, screw on the plastic feeding base and attach the hanger and you are ready to feed the birds (assembly instructions are included)!

Their Bird Feeding for Kids Program offers eight different wild bird feeding kits afford-ably priced ($1.39-$3.20 each). Each are Made in the USA. The minimum order through this program is 25 of each product (however they also have other soda bottle bird feeder kits available if you do not need 25--they are a higher price though).

I was sent a sample kit of the Bird Feeding Starter Kit to check out. These are super easy to assemble--my preschooler could assemble these with very minimal assistance. He was super excited to have his own bird feeder and water. I agree that these would be a wonderful project for a group of kids or a scout troop. I think you could cover quite a wide age range with these as well--the older kids could easily get more creative with decorations. I love that these projects re-use soda bottles--less in the landfills and give them a sense of accomplishment and responsibility as well.

Thank you to McNaughton for my sample used in this review, opinions are honest review by Michelle.
