Fanboy & Chum Chum
On May 24, 2011, Nickelodeon, along with Paramount Home Entertainment, is releasing Fanboy and Chum Chum on DVD for the first time ever!

If you are not familiar with the television hit CG-animated comedy series on Nickelodeon, "Fanboy and Chum Chum" here is a little information that I got from the press release (I have to admit, I am a "Fanboy and Chum Chum" newbie so it is best to get the descriptions from the officials).  "Fanboy and Chum Chum" was created by Eric Robles. "It is a hilarious story about a boy named Fanboy and his best friend and trusty sidekick, Chum Chum, two energetic "super fans" of all things sci-fi and fantasy. Their world is full of comic adventure (and misadventures) as they share a hyper imagination that enables a wide-eyed acceptance of the bizarre. They're fearless! They're adventurous! They wear underware on the outside of their costumes! They're Fanboy and Chum Chum."

Here is the synopsis from the back of the "Fanboy and Chum Chum" DVD case:
Put on your cape--and your tighty-whiteys--and get ready for full-tilt adventures into the absurd with Fanboy and Chum Chum!
Fanboy and Chum Chum want to play "wizard" the the new student, Kyle. Problem is, Kyle is an actual wizard expelled from the Milkweed Academy for Wizards.
When Fanboy and Chum Chum's gum comes to life, they must protect their friend from evil Janitor Poopatine's plan to whip out all the gum in the Galaxy Hills school district!
When Chum Chum feeds Fanboy's only dollar into a video game, the two friends must obtain another dollar in order to get their Frosty Freezy Freeze fix!
In a moment of weakness, Fanboy agrees to trade Chum Chum to Yo for her awesome Mechatech toy. And, getting back his best friend won't be easy!
When Fanboy and Chum Chum buy the last three tickets for Chimp Chomp: The Movie, bully Boog must obey all their commands so he can go with them.
Fanboy and Chum Chum buy Boog's childhood plastic bubble, but Boog regrets selling it to them when he realizes the bubble makes them bop-proof!
Fanboy, Chum Chum and Kyle embark on a camping trip atop Great Frosty Mountain, also known as the roof of the Frosty Mart.
Fanboy, Chum Chum and friends invite Man-Arctica to play a friendly game of freeze tag. But he takes the concept of freezing a little too far...

Special Features of this DVD include:
  • Animated Shorts
  • Pilot Episode of Planet Sheen
  • Full Screen Format
  • Dolby Digital-English Stereo
We were given a copy of the "Fanboy and Chum Chum" DVD to review, like I mentioned earlier, we are "Fanboy and Chum Chum" newbies. We did really enjoy watching this--in some respects Fanboy and Chum Chum remind me a bit of my 4 year old son, and his crazy imagination (thankfully he has not taken to wearing his undies on the outside of his clothes...yet!)!  My son loved it--it was great to hear him cracking up at various things throughout the 8 episodes. I was a bit afraid that it might be a little old for him, but he seemed really enjoy it and there wasn't anything that I felt that I needed to shelter him from! We have now caught the show a couple times on Nickelodeon

If you have a "Fanboy and Chum Chum" fan or just someone who enjoys comics and superheroes, this is the perfect DVD for them. It may be only 88 minutes long but it's packed with punches (aka laughs & entertainment) and it has a great voice cast, including Josh Duhamel and Jamie Kennedy. Watch for it in store starting, May 24, 2011!

Thank you to Nickelodeon for my sample used in this review.  Opinions are honest.  Review by Michelle.
