If you have been by your local Walmart then I am sure you have seen the collection of Better Homes and Gardens kitchen products. This weekend I put the 4.5 QT Stand Mixer, Bakeware Set, and the Grind and Brew Coffee Pot to the test.
Of course I started with the coffee pot. This was my first attempt at using a grind and brew system. I have to admit that at first I was a little confused with the machine, so I recruited my husband to help. It is like everything else in life it takes a while to get the hang of it but is worth it in the end. Plus knowing the amount of beans to use also is a science that you have learn.
The stand mixer was next. I was impressed at how easy it is to use all the pieces. Putting the three blades (are they called blades) on is a snap and taking them off is just as easy. The top lifts easily as well. Being dishwasher safe is a plus. To be honest it has been a while since I have used a stand mixer, and now I wonder why I have waited so long. I have even gone as far as to rearrange a few items in my kitchen so that it can sit on the counter and be used frequently.
The bakeware set was last. I love and I mean love the silicone handles, they make taking anything out of the oven simple and easy. They also take non-stick to a whole new level and bake evenly. The only thing that surprised me about them is that they are dishwasher safe, however not when used with dishwasher tablets, which is all I seem to use. So I am washing them by hand, which is worth it based on the quality of the pans.
I am lucky, my Mother lives near by and was able to come over Sunday afternoon and share with me her favorite coffee snack.
Cranberry Breakfast Cake
2 cups Craisins
2 cups chopped Walnuts
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1 TBS Orange Peel
1/2 tsp Ginger
1 TBS Vanilla
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Brown Sugar
2-8oz pkg Cream Cheese
3/4 cup Cranberry Juice
1 cup Bisquick
Mix all wet ingredients, then add all dry. Mix on low for 1 minute.
Place
in the square baking pan, bake 45 minutes at 375 degrees.
This cake is best served warm, while the center is still gooey.

My favorite coffee snack is Annisette Toast cookies! You can dunk them or just eat them plain!
I am voting. vercatfrontiernetdotnet
