I know I am always telling you how important I believe it is to read to our children. Little One Books agrees and that is why they specialize in books, music and video for children from birth to 5 years old.

Last week I visited the site and selected a pop-up book, A Walk Down Sesame Street. The books is amazing, in fact I did not know realize that pop-up books could be so detailed or that the pop-ups could move and dance.

It can be hard to select a book for a child, which is why Little One Books takes the time to review each item that they offer. The site is arranged so that you can search by age or product, making it easy and quick to find what you are looking for. They even share with you why they have selected each of the items that they sell. When possible they will publish discussion with the authors, illustrators, musicians and producers.

Like most people I love cookies. My problem is I have zero skills when it comes to baking. Which is why I wanted to try David's Cookies. They arrived on Thursday and since it was warm out they tasted like they just came out of the oven, warm and soft. I tried the 1-lb tin and had several different cookies to try. I love white chocolate so of course it was first on my list. My husband went right for the chocolate chip, we both agree that this is as close to homemade as we will ever get. (one day I will learn to cook)

Special Olympics and Best Buddies is leading the world in a celebration of the inspiration, impact and indomitable spirit of Eunice Kennedy Shriver. "Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day" (EKS Day) is promoting a global call for people to commit acts of inclusion, acceptance and unity for individuals with intellectual disabilities (EKS ACTS).

We'd love for each and everyone to participate and get your friends involved by "tagging" 5 friends with a little link love encouraging them to get involved and to "tag" 5 more people as a way to pay it forward. If everyone can "tag" friends, we all can help spread the word about the EKS foundation.

Here is a simple write up to help you out:

Free Weekend Events Around Springfield

There are plenty of fun and FREE activities to do around town today.

Don't forget about the Route 66 Mother Road Festival & Car Show or the Free Live Animal Presentation at the Illinois Museum, but there is more!

There is a Fall Craft and Food Festival from 9 am-2 pm at the University of Illinois Extension Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

And there is a "History Comes Alive" program at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site starting at 1 pm. You will learn how Mary Lincoln and others washed clothes. Then from 2-4 pm you will learn about the Lincoln family's neighbors.

Finally, at 2 pm at the Old Capitol State Historic site there will be a Harriet Tubman program.

So get out and enjoy this great weather and the free activities taking place around town.

Dr. Sears Omega-3 DHA Fruit Chews ~Save $4~

In an effort to offer my daughter the best diet possible I decided to introduce an Omega-3 DHA supplement. Another blogger introduced me to Dr. Sears Family Essentials and this week I let her try them. I know I need to give them more than a week to work, but I think it will be worth it if my daughter achieves more focus and mental clarity.

Of course from a kids stand point these are a candy treat and she is not about to object to the acai berry fruit chews. In fact she asked for a second. From a parent's standpoint I trust that I am offering her the best I can by giving her an Omega-3 DHA supplement.

Use Up The Hungry Jack Box and You May Win A Year's Worth of Groceries
