Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Presents FUNundrum October 14th-17th

The circus is coming to town!!!

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is presenting "FUNundrum" Thursday, October 14th-Sunday, October 17th at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. There will be 7 shows on those 4 days.

My daughter has not been to see a circus yet, so I can not wait to see her reaction to this...I can only imagine how excited she will be seeing all of the animals, clowns and all of the other great things Barnum & Bailey's circuses always have.

I have been given a special code to pass onto my readers to save you money on tickets!

When you purchase your tickets through Ticketmaster, use the code MOM and it will default to opening night prices for Thursday nights show as well as $11 on the 10:30 am Friday show. From one Mom to another Mom please look at these pictures before you take your child to the circus. I did and was very upset when I saw how cruelly they train baby elephants to perform in the circus. I went to Ringling Bros Center for Elephant Conservation link, they paint a rosy picture about their elephants, but I was not satisfied with their reply that these baby elephants are being given treats in those photos to train them. The more I looked into these elephant abuse claims the worse it got, there are dozens of videos showing these elephants being beaten. I was shocked and you will be too.

I encourage you to revisit the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus website at http://www.ringling.com/FlashSubContent.aspx?id=11840&parentID=320&assetFolderID=324 and you will see their Center for Elephant Conservation. You will see how well these animals are cared for both at the Center and while traveling.

I’ve looked at all of Ringling Bros websites and you would think they treat their elephants like family members, but then I read Sammy Haddocks story. http://www.ringlingbeatsanimals.com/pdfs/haddockDeclarationRedacted.pdf
He was an elephant trainer for Ringling at CEC, he revealed dozens of photos he had took, showing what happens to baby elephants behind closed doors at CEC. I saw trainers at CEC constantly poking those baby elephants with a bullhook, then using a electric prod and tying them up in ropes and pulling their legs out from underneath them to train them to perform those circus acts. This is not humane treatment.
I have spent hundreds of hours researching Ringling’s treatment of their animals, I’ve read Ringling’s own medical reports, in the past 18 years they have had 26 elephants to die, mostly died from crippling foot diseases or arthritis brought on from being chained constantly, and several from Tuberculosis. These records also show that pain medication is given to these elephants to keep them performing as long as possible. If you ever had the chance to watch the elephants come out of their boxcar you will see lameness in many of them. http://www.bornfreeusa.org/a1a6a3_exhibits.php
Unless you are willing to look a little deeper into this animal abuse, you will only see the illusions Ringling Bros Circus wants you to see. I personally believe what my own eyes saw.
Most of us have animals that live with us, and that we love, would you beat them with a fireplace poker or use an electric prod to train them? Would you leave them chained up standing in their own increments for days on end?
